FFT padel 2027: what changes in tournaments

Wider cuts, separate men's and women's scales from P500 up, the P1500 dropped and the P3000 created: the full picture for the 2027 season.

The 2027 sporting season opened on 1 September 2026. We read chapters I, II and III of the 2027 Guide de la Compétition Padel and diffed every table against the 2026 edition. Here is what actually changes for players and referees, with the exact figures. Every 2027 value on this page is read from the same rules our app applies, so it matches our points tables and our cut checks.

Cuts

Three thresholds widened

P100 moves from the TOP 3,000 to the TOP 5,000 for men and from the TOP 300 to the TOP 500 for women. P250 moves from the TOP 800 to the TOP 1,000 for men. More players can therefore enter both tiers.

Points

P500 and up: one scale, split by gender

From P500 the points no longer depend on the number of pairs entered, and the scale now differs between women's and men's draws. P250 and below keep their seven draw-size buckets.

Tiers

P1500 dropped, P3000 created

The eight former P1500 events become P2000 and the four former P2000 events become P3000. Careful: a P2000 label no longer means the same scale it did in 2026.

Draws

Wild cards and seeding

No wild card at all from P25 to P500; a single one at P1000, for the final draw. And one seed per pool instead of two.

The 2027 cuts, compared with 2026

A cut is an individual ranking threshold: players inside the TOP N (inclusive) may not enter that tier. Changed values are highlighted. From P500 up there is no ranking restriction — entry lists are cut on pair weight instead.

The big change for mixed events: up to 2026 no mixed tournament carried a cut at all. In 2027, mixed P100 draws and below apply both restrictions, each player judged against their own gender's ranking — and without the women-to-men equivalence grid, which the FFT does not apply in mixed events. Mixed P250 draws remain the only ones with no ranking restriction.

P500: where the men's and women's scales part company

The two scales are identical down to 5th place, then diverge. The women's table stops at "25 and below" (20 points) where the men's runs to "32 and below" (15 points).

The P1000 table is exactly double the P500 at every position, in both genders. P2000 and P3000 are four and six times the men's P500 scale respectively, with no gender split.

The new tier ladder

The pyramid now has eight levels: P25, P50, P100, P250, P500 and P1000 run by the leagues, then P2000 and P3000 run directly by the FFT.

The P1500 disappears from the senior pairs tournament ladder.

The eight formerly-P1500 events are renamed P2000: 2,000 points to the winner, 60 points at 32nd place and below.

The four formerly-P2000 events are renamed P3000: 3,000 points to the winner, 90 points at 32nd place and below. At the French Senior Championships the Sunday classification match is not played, so every pair is ranked in the high position.

The other changes worth knowing

Wild cards: none below P1000

No WC is possible at P25, P50, P100, P250 or P500. At P1000 the tournament committee may award a single WC, for the final draw, requested by 23:59 five days out. A WC is slotted by pair weight and can therefore displace a seed.

One seed per pool

Pool composition now requires one seed per pool, down from two in 2026. The remaining pairs are still placed by one of the two official methods: rank distribution or the serpentine.

A hard window on start times

No match may start before 07:00 or after midnight. The 12-hour minimum rest between matches played on different days still applies.

Pool standings: unchanged

Scoring stays 2 points for a win, 1 for a loss, −1 for a disqualification and −2 for a WO. Worth repeating: with two or more pools, pairs finishing at the same pool position share the same final rank — the least favourable one — and are not separated on set or game difference.
